CD Reviews: Minions Dominion
By George

The dynasty flourishes...And
as they say: ""The
beat goes on.'' Delfeayo Marsalis has accrued a formidable
jazz group together indeed for his new CD project...And,
having the likes on Mulgrew Miller on piano & Elvin Jones
on drums can only insure nothing short of a viable effort.
The standard ''Just Squeeze Me'' is the perfect vehicle for
Delfeayo's sackbut chops which he delivers with robust panache.
I mark him as an animated & virtuosic soloist of high
ranking.
Due to his musical heritage of being of Marsalis
blood, Delfeayo is able to explore musically the common ground
of all idioms related to jazz, i.e. bebop, swing, latin,
et al. And, he has emerged as a complete stylist in today's
array of trombone genre, but with a bristling bebop edge
to his artistry.
